The Aletsch Glacier is a living thing.

โ€˜As the glacier melts it throws up all the things it ate over the years โ€“ rocks, people, even planes,โ€™ says Patrizio.

Getting there

SWISS Air fly direct from London Heathrow to Geneva and Zurich, which are connected to towns and cities across the Valais by SBB railways and buses.

Best time to go

Hiking in the Valais is best enjoyed in the summer, with glacier tours on the surface of the Aletsch Glacier available between June and October.
