IHG Hotels & Resorts unveils two UK hotels

Hotel Indigo London K West Shepherdโ€™s Bush is a contemporary West London stay that leans into a relaxed, neighbourhood feel. The hotel brings together spacious bedrooms – including Signature Suites and Garden Rooms – with sociable dining and drinking spaces centred around open-fire cooking. A highlight for summer is the spa, which extends outdoors into a garden area, designed for slow, easy downtime in warmer months.

Hotel Indigo Gloucester โ€“ The Forum is set in a characterful part of the city near the cathedral and river, this boutique hotel fits naturally into its historic surroundings. Festivals in San Antonio, Mississippi and Tennessee

This yearโ€™s Pride River Parade & Festival takes place 30 May, and celebrates San Antonioโ€™s Texas roots and LGBTQ+ pride in full bold colour. This yearโ€™s theme is the โ€˜Rainbow Rodeoโ€™ and the parade is part party, part spectacle and all heart with decked-out floats and cowboy flair.


The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra takes place on 8 May at the Old Trace Park on the
Rez. The event includes a concert program featuring movie scores and thrilling fireworks
finale saluting 250 years of America.

The Bloominโ€™ BBQ Music & Food Festival takes place 15-16 May in Sevierville. Some
of the nationโ€™s best barbecue, live music and family fun can be enjoyed at one of the
Southeastโ€™s top festivals. This BBQ cook-off offers free admission and free concerts.

Kruger National Park to celebrate centenary

South Africaโ€™s Kruger National Park is set to mark its centenary on 31 May, celebrating 100 years since its formal proclamation as the countryโ€™s first national park. Established in 1926 through the merger of the Sabie and Shingwedzi reserves, the parkโ€™s origins date back to 1898, when early conservation efforts were introduced to protect declining wildlife populations.

Today, it is one of Africaโ€™s most iconic safari destinations, the 7,570 square mile reserve, which is home to the Big Five and hundreds of bird species, attracting close to two million visitors annually. 14,000 elephants reside in the park, more than double that of 10 years ago.

G Adventures launches in Dominica

New hotel opens in Venice

The Cavallino Bianco Caorle – Venezia, the new five star luxury resort dedicated to families, is set to open in May 2026. Following the success of the groupโ€™s multi-award-winning hotel in the South Tyrol, the new resort will open in the Venetian coastal town of Caorle, overlooking a Blue Flag beach and featuring 101 luxury suites.

Children and teens will enjoy access to Lino Land, offering educational programmes, creative workshops, a theatre and gym facilities. Parents will find spaces dedicated to relaxation, mindfulness and fine dining.

Inside the hotel, a wellness centre will offer heated pools, saunas, a beauty farm, holistic treatments and an adults-only rooftop spa, featuring an Infinity Sky Pool overlooking the Adriatic. There will be three restaurants, including one for families, one for adults-only and a playful childrenโ€™s restaurant.

Secret Atlas to redesign flagship vessel

Expedition micro cruise specialist Secret Atlas has announced a redesign of its flagship vessel, MV Freya. The ship now features six dedicated single cabins, redefining the Arctic experience for independent explorers.

By reconfiguring MV Freya, Secret Atlas offers half of its guest capacity to solo travellers without any additional costs or single supplements. The new layout includes four Classic Single cabins on Deck 1 and two on Deck 2, allowing six out of 12 passengers their own private space at no extra premium.

Travelling with a small group of just 12 explorers fosters a natural community, creating the ideal setting for a solo traveller. Whether spotting polar bears on the pack ice or sharing stories from the day over dinner, guests connect with fellow travellers in a safe, intimate environment. Each of the six new cabins features a spacious en-suite, providing a comfortable “home away from home” after a day of Zodiac and on-land excursions.

Fireworks return to Niagara Falls

The Niagara Falls Summer Fireworks Series returns on 15 May, lighting up the sky every night through Canadian Thanksgiving. The display lasts five minutes each evening, with extended nine-minute shows on select holidays, against the backdrop of the Horseshoe Falls.

Guests can also witness the mesmerising fireworks display from the historic Niagara Parks Power Station. Descend 180 feet in a glass-panelled elevator, and explore the tunnel leading visitors to this exclusive viewing spot right at the riverโ€™s edge.
